A Procrastinator

I am a procrastinator. It is on the top of the list of my many faults. When there is something pressing to be done I can find a million other things to do instead. When I was in school and I had a big paper to write (my least favorite thing), I'd organize my closet, clean the refrigerator, or clean the kitchen cupboards. I would then two days before the paper was due either cram to get it done, or after careful calculations on the other aspects of the grade, decide that a C grade was worth not doing the paper at all. It is after 10:30 pm on a Saturday night and I'm supposed to be working on a talk that I'm giving in sacrament meeting tomorrow. However, the difference between this and a homework assignment is that I don't have the choice of just not doing it. At 7:30 instead of making banana bread, washing the mountain of dishes...that unfortunately are still going to be there tomorrow..., or bathing the girls, which I made Randy do, I got on the computer to work on this talk. I resisted checking my email and blogs for awhile, but I really needed a break.

You did a great job! Even with the girls crying for mommy during the meeting I was able to listen to most of it and so I can truly say you did a great job. Second year in a row on Father's Day. Anyone for three in a row?

Was that the second year in a row? I think an annual assignment wouldn't be too bad--if you know all year you are the father's day speaker you can jot down a thought on the subject here and there as it occurs to you and voila--great talk with minimal effort. Maybe someone could propose that to Salt Lake . . .

Oh, yeah. Also: good job. You came across as very warm and personable. And you didn't even look nervous. :)

JoElle, sometimes I do my best work when I procrastinate and then feel that stress, I bet your talk went great. By the way when are you coming out in July?

I am the same way as Magic Marker's comment... I also procrastinate, but that's when I'm the most productive and get the most done.

Yep, how can I focus on ________ (fill in the blank) when there are rotten veggies in the fridge... it must be cleaned out- NOW!

Too funny!

You speaking on Father's Day must be like Paul speaking on Easter. He's done three years now, so I would start preparing your talk for next Father's Day now! Ha...And you did do a nice job. I was out in the hall for most of it, but was able to listen to at least some of it.
